About Ron Merryman
Ron Merryman was
born in East Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania. As an adolescent Ron was led to the
Lord by a faithful teaching pastor, Dr. William Garman. Under Dr. Garman, Ron became a
teenage member of a very well taught congregation.
Upon completion
of high school there, he served a four year tool and die maker apprenticeship
with the Westinghouse Corporation.
This along with engineering courses at Carnegie Tech University (now Carnegie
Mellon University) laid the groundwork for future occupation as a tooling
engineer.
During the
Korean War, Ron served three years in the Air Force as an R-3350 Curtis Wright,
engine specialist and as crew chief of a B-29.
From the Air Force, he became involved in Christian ministry that has lasted more than sixty-five years. He served the Lord in Bible
colleges for eleven years, three of those as Acting President of Western Bible
College, Morrison, Colorado. Leaving
Western, he became the Pastor of Holly Hills Bible Church in Denver, Colorado,
where he served for fourteen years.
While serving as a pastor, Ron became the visiting Professor of History
(1976-1980) at Christian Heritage College, El Cajon, California.
Academically, he
holds B.A. and M.A. degrees (Biblical Languages) from
Bob Jones
University.
After two years in seminary, he completed a Ph.D. residency at the
University
of Colorado majoring in the
Intellectual History of the West, mentored by the famous medievalist, Dr. S.
Harrison Thompson (an ordained Presbyterian minister, deceased).
Ron and his wife, Sandra, currently live in Lee's Summit, Missouri, where he writes and serves as the President of Merryman Ministries.
